With a time machine, preferably.
It's a second line support tank. If you're getting shot, you're too close to the front line. More importantly, if you're getting shot and no enemy tanks are close enough to spot you, there absolutely is an enemy scout chilling somewhere.

Treat it like a medium, not a heavy.

as a medium tank you get lots of HP pool to play with and a decent gun with great pen ( for a med) I love my FCM.

Mine's on the NA server, but as others have said, it's basically a fat medium; play it as such and you should do okay. Can't remember if I tried with mine, but it should be quite worthwhile in FL, although there are plenty of better picks...

frontline shows exactly why fcm has preferential mm. It has to be of one of the worst FL tanks. FCM shines when middle or top tier. really shines...

After recent buffs and changes to MM, I actually quite enjoy FCM now.
Play it as a highly mobile sniper. Maximize view range, and make use of that gun depression to quickly pop out and return to cover. Works best when there is no arty, because it will be all over you non-stop due to low armor.
Avoid close-quarters fight with "proper" heavy tanks. In fact, if you really have no choice but to fight in such way, your best bet are other mediums or lights, where you can use your nice DPM and speed+weight combo to ram them.
Tracks are very large and will be your main defense against shots, particularly if sidescraping against enemies who keep shooting them.

Park him in the garage until they buff him...
i think they should just remove the FCM and exchange it for the other French Heavy premiums or the cdc

I have the FCM50T, but haven't played it after the last buff. I only played it in my noobyears, it was one of my first premiums. But just looking at the stats, I can't say nothing else than that it's just a solid medium tank. It's a big, fat, easy target, but you have to play it like a Mutz, STA2 and other meds with 10 degrees of gundepression and no armor. The turret can pull of trollish bounces, at least I bounce the occasional shell while shooting at it.
Just find a ridgeline to work, only expose your turret and try snapshots if you don't feel comfortable to sit and aim. The dispersion values aren't that bad when you have a good crew and equipment.
Don't play it as a heavy. Don't push it into cornerfights. Don't go to the city parts of maps when you can play the field. Just search for a good ridgeline or hill to abuse your gundepression. You are a medium tank with hitpoints to tank and you have crazy DPM. Just play it carefully.
I might give the FCM50T a try again tonight. I literally haven't played it for years. Just took a look at it's stats and it surprised me positively, I would really like to know how it works out on the battlefield.

Just do not play this tank. Camo rating is one huge factor in how mediums work around the map and FCM doesn't have any. You gonna get light up like a christmas tree if you dare to pull any kind aggressive maneuver take forward positions and get spotted by random tanks when sniping at long range, incredibly hard to make this tank work. And the gun isn't good, on paper accuracy is ok but the hidden stats of gun handling is horrible and the aim time is long your shoot will go places if not fully aimed, plus the penetration is lackluster. It's just a really bad tank. Get a new one and don't look back.

It has awesome mobility and decent gun. Roll with MTs and use your gun depression to shoot people over ridge lines but never get delusional and take the lead. Let others take the damage and you focus on dealing damage and avoid trading. That alpha is low and it's not worth it.

Don't...
You will be focus by all, arty, meds, lights, heavies, Td's... all will shoot you for the easy pen.
